Even though the Premier League season is underway for Chelsea, it by no means looks a locked in squad for the upcoming campaign.
As Enzo Maresca named his side to take on Manchester City in the first game of the season, there were more questions about those who weren’t involved rather than those who were.Raheem Sterling’s camp put out a statement after he was nowhere to be seen in the matchday squad, something that didn’t go down too well with pundits after the game.

Given the nature of the squad size currently at Chelsea, there were a number of players who are regularly at Cobham that just weren’t able to fit in the matchday side.
One of those who was perhaps not expected to be anyway was Bashir Humphreys, with Burnley agreeing a fee with the Blues over his sale.
Bashir Humphreys set for Burnley medical
Now, Nizaar Kinsella has claimed that the young defender is set for his medical ahead of joining the Championship club today.
He said: “Chelsea defender Bashir Humphreys to undergo a medical today at Burnley, personal terms are agreed.”
Humphreys was touted as the next player to break through the academy at Chelsea and be pushing for first team minutes.
The young Englishman spent last season on loan at Swansea, where he was described as ‘outstanding’.
However, with the magnitude of players the club currently have on its books, it seems as if there is an appetite to cash in while they can with a willing side.
The two centre-back roles were occupied yesterday by Wesley Fofana and Levi Colwill, with them both looking comfortable with the ball at their feet and happy in the system Maresca is looking to play.
Maresca was not so pleased though with the Chelsea fans inside Stamford Bridge who were growing frustrated of that style of play within the first game under a new manager.
Patience will certainly be needed if the Blues are going to succeed and play their best stuff under the Italian.
