Chelsea have confirmed that Santos will spend next season on loan at Strasbourg.
After signing the Brazilian teenager in a couple of January windows ago from Vasco da Gama, he joined up with his Chelsea teammates last summer and impressed during the club’s pre-season tour of the United States.CHELSEA made the big decision in the summer window to allow Santos to make the move to Forest for the season in hope that he would get some game time to adapt to the English game.
But The 19-year-old midfielder was only used twice by Forest in all competitions since moving to the City Ground in the summer, and when the most recent January window opened up – he was shipped out to Strasbourg.
He has been back at the club for a few weeks after that loan spell, but now it has been confirmed that the Brazilian will spend next season back at the French side after the Blues confirmed the deal on their website.
Chelsea posted on the club website: ‘The 20-year-old spent the second half of the previous campaign with the French club, during which he made 11 appearances and scored one goal.
‘He has now left our summer tour of the USA and will continue his development with Strasbourg in the French top flight.
‘Good luck, Andrey!’
Santos is a very talented young man that did not need to come to Europe at this stage of his career, he is far too young and is was too big of a decision to leave his homeland.
He needs to be playing – so hopefully at Strasbourg he will get some more game time and it will help his development. But one thing is for sure – he probably did not expect to be sent all over Europe when he made the decision to join CHELSEA.
