Chelsea make breakthrough to sign new number 9 striker for Enzo Maresca

Chelsea remain in the market for a specialist number nine as Enzo Maresca looks to assemble a squad capable of returning to the Champions League.

Nicolas Jackson enjoyed a productive debut season at Stamford Bridge but it’s become evident he’s not quite at the level required if The Blues are aspiring for Premier League glory.

To go up a level, they need a prolific centre-forward who can lead the line on his own, which is a key trait Maresca needs for his system to flourish.

With that said, sportsfocushub can now exclusively reveal that talks are advancing to sign a world class striker.

Chelsea progressing in talks to sign Victor Osimhen

Sportsfocushub understands that Chelsea’s talks with Napoli over a possible deal for Victor Osimhen are progressing and that there is a belief from sources that their asking price has dropped.

Napoli had always insisted that they wanted Osimhen’s release clause value met, even if the buying club did not have to pay the clause in one go.

The clause is worth around £111million but TBR has been told that Napoli are prepared to consider a deal worth around £85million (€100m) with additional add-ons.

Napoli’s willingness to lower their asking price would be tied to their own talks to land Romelu Lukaku. His release clause is currently £38million – but it is believed they want Chelsea to accept less than £30million.

Napoli sporting director Giovanni Manna is currently in England, talking terms over a number of different deals.

Victor Osimhen statistics

Osimhen, who has been labelled ‘one of the best players in the world’ (Adriano Del Monte), didn’t quite have the same output last season as he did the previous year but that was largely due to injuries.

The Nigeria international still managed to net 17 times in 27 starts, which is certainly a commendable tally.

If Chelsea do manage to land his signature, it’d be regarded as a real coup and one that’d put rival Premier League clubs on red alert.
