Star player flying for medical as Chelsea ready to announce the signing of a world-class player

Chelsea may be on the verge of completing another summer signing as one of their transfer targets is due for a medical in the United States.

Chelsea are currently touring the US during their pre-season schedule this summer, which kickstarted with a 2-2 draw against Wrexham on Thursday.

The current Blues squad on tour includes several new individuals who’ve joined already in this window. Tosin Adarabioyo, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Marc Guiu, and Renato Veiga are the new additions involved.

It’s been reported by Football.London, Omari Kellyman is absent with an injury. The Chelsea summer signing has been left off the tour so he can undergo a rehabilitation programme on an injury back in England.

Journalist Marcos Bonocore has reported via X on Friday morning that Boca Juniors defender Aaron Anselmino is set to complete a move to Chelsea.

It is understood that the 19-year-old defender will fly out to have his medical in the US, where Chelsea are currently based for pre-season.

The Anselmino rumours have gone quiet in the last few weeks, but he’s actually been linked with a move to Chelsea all summer.

Journalist Rudy Galetti claimed via X in June that Chelsea have reached an agreement to sign Anselmino. Apparently, the Blues will pay $18m (£14m) for the young centre-half, who’s expected to return to Boca Juniors on loan for a season.

He’s an Argentine teenager that very much fits the Chelsea strategy of signing future stars.

When you see the amount of quality centre-backs in the Blues squad, it makes sense to have another year out on loan.
