EPL striker hints he's joining Chelsea after latest development

One player has made it clear that he wants to leave his club this summer after being linked with a move to Chelsea.

Right now, Chelsea‘s focus in the transfer market seems to be on goalkeepers. In fact, they look close to signing one.

Chelsea are inching nearer to landing Filip Jorgensen, who could replace Robert Sanchez or Djordje Petrovic in Enzo Maresca‘s squad.

It is unlikely that the Italian would be able to keep all three goalkeepers happy during the 2024/25 season.

After finishing the last campaign with Nicolas Jackson as the only recognised centre-forward in their squad, Chelsea could also sign another striker.

One No.9 who has been linked with a switch to Stamford Bridge is Aston Villa’s Jhon Duran.

At one point, it was claimed that Chelsea had broadly agreed a deal to sign Duran, but their interest now looks to have cooled somewhat.

Nevertheless, the 20-year-old is still hoping that he can get a move to a big club like Chelsea this summer.

Speaking to ESPN Deportes, Duran said: “I take it very calmly with the help of my agent and my dad, we are taking everything little by little.

“That my name is mentioned with such big teams, it is very important for my career. I’m happy that there are these rumours and let’s hope that something concrete happens.

Chelsea could put their faith in Marc Guiu instead

Chelsea have signed a striker this summer, albeit a very young one, one even younger than Duran.

The Blues bought Marc Guiu from Barcelona earlier this month, and Guiu has been training with the Chelsea first team.

The 18-year-old even played against Wrexham on Thursday, and Guiu managed to impress Chelsea supporters with his display.

All things considered, then, there is always the possibility that Chelsea look to utilise Guiu instead of buying another striker like Duran.

It could save them a lot of money, as journalist James Nursey is reporting that Villa want £40m for the Colombian.

That is a big sum for a player who was only able to make three starts in the Premier League last season. At that price, Chelsea probably should be looking at other ideas to solve their centre-forward dilemma.
