As reported by Football London, Chelsea have stepped up their pursuit of Leeds United winger Crysencio Summerville.
The Blues had reportedly agreed personal terms with Crystal Palace’s Michael Olise both earlier this summer and last summer, yet they missed out on him as the 22-year-old completed his move to Bayern Munich, prompting Chelsea to look elsewhere.Summerville was exquisite for Leeds in the Championship last season despite Daniel Farke’s team having failed to return to the Premier League at the first time of asking.
With Leeds needing to generate a three-figure sum in player sales this summer, Summerville is expected to be one of a fair few of their stars expected to be sold.
Summerville’s current contract at Elland Road, fetching him £15k per week, is set to run until June 2026. He is valued by Transfermarkt at €20 million.
An incredible season from Crysencio. It's a shame it wasn't enough for promotion.
Summerville is an exciting player, and Chelsea need to prove themselves in the market after missing out on Olise. Additionally, Enzo Maresca must have monitored him closely last season in the Championship, and there’s a good chance he would asked Leicester City to looking him had he stayed there.
All these reasons help us understand Chelsea’s interest in Summerville, though their reality remains unchanged: they have more than enough players on board to find an in-house solution instead of trying to fix their issues by continuing to go after new players, which is not helping them.
