Chelsea look to be focused on sealing exits, having already confirmed six new summer signings. Enzo Maresca is preparing to take his squad overseas in the coming days for a pre-season tour, though several senior players face uncertain futures.
Romelu Lukaku, Kepa Arrizabalaga, Armando Broja and David Datro Fofana are some of the returning loanees likely to depart. Trevoh Chalobah, Conor Gallagher and now Dorde Petrovic are just a few others that could be sold with the Blues hoping to raise significant funds.Though permanent exits are preferred, several young stars are primed for loan moves, with Chelsea continuing to implement their strategy of acquiring wonderkids. The latest update on that front involves Lesley Ugochukwu and Andrey Santos, with a major update on Romelu Lukaku also coming to light.
Ugochukwu and Santos loans
According to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, the Blues are planning for the France international to seal a temporary move as they want him to play on a regular basis. Santos, meanwhile, will be returning to the Blues' sister-club Strasbourg in France after the USA pre-season tour.
"It is perhaps no surprise that both Santos and Ugochukwu are set for temporary moves following the addition of Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall. Romeo Lavia will also feel like a new signing for the 2024/25 season after enduring an injury-ravaged first campaign at Stamford Bridge.
"What is surprising though, is the decision to take Santos stateside despite plans being clear that he will play his football in France for the next nine months. Considering the £21million spent on Ugochukwu and the £18million forked out for Santos, it is clear Chelsea want both players to succeed at the club with loan exits seen as best for their development."
Lukaku agreement
Romelu Lukaku and Chelsea finally look set to part ways permanently, with Napoli having been in talks to sign him. And now, according to Sky Sports Germany's Florian Plettenberg, the two parties have reached an agreement on personal terms.
There is still plenty of work to be done in order to agree a summer deal with the Blues demanding €40million (£33.7m) for his departure, a price Napoli cannot currently afford.
"After three long and painful years, Lukaku's second stint at Chelsea looks set to finally end. If they can attain a fee anywhere near the asking price, it will certainly be a good deal considering how the last few seasons have played out.
"Selling Lukaku, along with Broja, could also see Chelsea push for a new striker signing with Samu Omorodion appearing to be at the top of their shortlist. Another loan move would be feasible, as his contract expires in 2026, however it is clear the Blues would prefer to sell."
