Chelsea now to pay £70m for the signing of new number 9 striker

Chelsea are keen on signing a new striker this summer and one of the players they have been linked his Atletico Madrid star Samu Omorodion.

The recent reports disclosed that the Blues have tables a bid to sign the striker who is worth £70 million.

This comes after Chelsea’s newly appointed manager Enzo Maresca personally welcomed the move.

A recent report via the Sun gave an update on Chelsea’s pursuit of the Spaniard, and it is believed Maresca personally welcomes the prospect of having him at Stamford Bridge as he green-lights the transfer.

Recall that the Blues had also submitted a £42 million bid for Omorodion, which Atletico Madrid responded by snubbing the bid as the La Liga side demand as much as £70 million to consider his transfer.

Maresca has disclosed he wants another forward at Chelsea to compete with Nicolas Jackson next season.

The Blues co-sporting directors Paul Winstanley and Laurence Stewart have  identified Omorodion as the ideal profile suited to his style.

He is also highly rated in Spain and considered a play with potential.

There are speculations that Chelsea could soon return with a new bid for him as they plan to build a new squad under Maresca next season.
