Chelsea are reportedly keen on the idea of signing a new attacker. Interestingly, he’s a £50m-rated winger from their Premier League rivals.
The Blues have been pretty actives so far in this summer transfer window, but could they be about to bring another forward to Stamford Bridge?Chelsea have already completed the signings of Tosin Adarabioyo, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Omari Kellyman, Marc Guiu and Renato Veiga.
They’ve managed to bring in several new faces before jetting off for the pre-season tour in the United States later in July. In a training video posted by Chelsea’s official website, forgotten player Tino Anjorin is also with the squad, which looks pretty large at this stage.
Journalist Simon Phillips has reported via his Substack on Tuesday that Wolverhampton Wanderers star Pedro Neto is on Chelsea’s transfer shortlist this summer.
It is explained that agents have reached out to Chelsea to see if they would be interested in signing the 24-year-old Wolves winger. The club’s answer in response was yes.
Phillips shares that Neto is liked by plenty at Chelsea and he’s been on their radar for some time, but there’s some worries about his frequent injuries.
Apparently, the Wolves ace is ready to join a bigger club and has a market value of £50m.
For now, the Blues are yet to make any kind of approach. He’s someone of interest to them in this current window, though.
Speaking via BBC Sport last September during the previous season, Wolves boss Gary O’Neil described Neto as “incredible”.
When fit, Neto really can look like one of the most exciting wingers in the Premier League. The Portuguese left-footer has pace, trickery and directness.
He only played 24 games across all competitions last season for Wolves due to injury, but still ended up with three goals and 11 assists.
The Chelsea Chronicle believes that Neto would be fantastic addition at the Bridge, especially at £50m. However, any club that signs him would be taking a significant gamble given his injury record recently.
Chelsea do currently have the likes of Raheem Sterling, Mykhailo Mudryk and Noni Madueke to compete on the wings. There’s also a deal agreed for right-winger Estevao Willian to join in 2025.
