Chelsea have confirmed the signing of goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen from Villareal. Costing in the region of £20million, the Blues have now made eight new signings this summer with the 22-year-old joining Tosin Adarabioyo, Estevao Willian, Omari Kellyman, Marc Guiu, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Renato Veiga and Caleb Wiley as new additions to the squad.
Speaking for the first time since having his Chelsea move confirmed, via the club's official website, Jorgensen said: "This move is a dream come true. I am very excited to have signed for Chelsea, one of the biggest clubs in the world. I can’t wait to get to know everyone and to start playing with all my new teammates." The club have also confirmed he has signed a seven-year contract.Alongside new players joining, some major outgoings have also been sanctioned with exits for Ian Maatsen, Lewis Hall and Omari Hutchinson helping Chelsea raise just under £100million. Following the arrival of Jorgensen, a departure in the goalkeeper department is also likely with it seeming as though Dorde Petrovic will be the one sacrificed.
Departures further up the pitch also look set to occur with Conor Gallagher's future at Stamford Bridge very uncertain. Amid talks with Atletico Madrid over the permanent transfer of the 24-year-old, head coach Enzo Maresca offered an update on the situation.
In a press conference, he said: "At the moment, Conor will be back with us at Cobham. He will be in Cobham in the next days. If the transfer window is open, anything can happen. Not only for Conor but for all of the players."
Considering Maresca's comments, it certainly sounds as though Gallagher could be on the move and the latest update regarding talks with Atletico has seemingly confirmed as such.
Sportsfocushub understands that advanced talks are currently ongoing between the two clubs for Gallagher with transfer guru Fabrizio Romano adding the deal will be worth between £29.5million (€35m) and £33.7million (€40m). However, for the move to be sanctioned, a final decision from the player is still required.
As a graduate of the Cobham academy, it is unlikely Gallagher is fully open to departing his boyhood club this summer, however if he does feel as though he is being pushed out purely for monetary gain, it would not be surprising if he accepted the move to Spain.
