Medical at Stamford Bridge as star player reach total agreement to join Chelsea

Good news as Chelsea have reached a full agreement with Aston Villa over the signing of Omari Kellyman, sources have revealed to sportsfocushub.

Kellyman, 18, is due to have a medical on Monday ahead of signing a six-year deal, which could also include a 12-month extension option.

Sources say the fee will be £19million including add-ons as the England U-20 international prepares to make the move to Stamford Bridge.

Kellyman will join Chelsea’s first-team squad for pre-season after being on the periphery of Unai Emery’s side last season.

But, in an unexpected twist, the attacking midfielder could be loaned out next season to gain more senior experience and prepare him for the following campaign.

Kellyman has spent the past two years with Villa after joining the club’s academy from Derby County for a reported £600,000 in March 2022.

The Derby-born attacker registered an assist on his professional debut in Villa’s 3-0 victory over Hibernian in the Europa Conference League qualifiers last August.

The teenager made six senior appearances across the campaign for a combined total of 153 minutes, with just two of those outings coming in the Premier League.

Villa are now set to cash in on Kellyman as they are believed to be close to the profit and sustainability (PSR) limit.

The deal for Kellyman is not the only transfer Villa and Chelsea have been discussing, with the west London club also believed to be close to breaching the PSR rules.

It was revealed on Saturday afternoon that defender Ian Maatsen is set to undergo a medical today ahead of his move to Villa Park, while Chelsea are in advanced talks to sign Villa forward Jhon Duran this summer.
