Chelsea turn attention to signing Serie A player for Enzo Maresca

Chelsea are keen on Federico Dimarco as an option at left-back as Enzo Maresca plans changes to the position this summer.

According to reports, Chelsea is reportedly interested in a move for Federico Dimarco from Inter Milan this summer. The Blues are keen to strengthen the left-back position as Enzo Maresca reportedly does not rate either of Marc Cucurella or Ben Chilwell ahead of the new season.

Federico Dimarco on Chelsea’s radar

Chelsea are keen to make some fundamental changes to their squad ahead of the new season, as new manager Enzo Maresca eyes some key additions that are specific to his system. One of the positions on the Italian’s mind is left-back, as the manager reportedly does not rate either Ben Chilwell or Marc Cucurella.

The former has faced plenty of fitness issues, while the latter has been inconsistent, although he has been starting for Spain at the Euros. Meanwhile, they have already agreed to sell Ian Maatsen to Aston Villa and may have the funds to bring in a new left-back.

Inter Milan’s 26-year-old versatile defender Federico Dimarco has now emerged on Chelsea’s radar as a big option for the Blues to consider. The Italian international has been starring for his national side and club, where he has taken up roles ranging from left-back to left wing-back, depending on how Simone Inzaghi plays in games.

Hence, he could be a good option for Chelsea and Maresca to consider, as the 26-year-old versatile defender can adapt to the inverted full-back role the Italian so dearly likes. Hence, this could be a deal to watch out for this summer, as the Blues might make their move for a new left-back, and it could be the Italian international from Inter Milan.

Chelsea’s other left-back options revealed

Staying in Milan, Chelsea has been keen on another Serie A full-back as they are interested in AC Milan’s Theo Hernandez. The Blues are part of the competition for the French international, meaning they might lose out to another club, with Bayern Munich considered one of the favourites to land him.

There’s also Milos Kerkez, who has been of interest for a few months and will suit their transfer policy of buying young. In that regard, Dimarco is a bit older than their taste, but his tremendous experience and expertise will be something Maresca will rate highly.
