Chelsea reach £42m agreement for the signing of a world-class forward

It has been claimed that Chelsea have reached an agreement with another Premier League club over a deal for one of their players.

The Blues are having to go big again in the transfer market this summer as they look to give backing to another new manager at Stamford Bridge.

It is Enzo Maresca who will take over Chelsea next season, and they have quickly gone about their business already.

A deal to bring in Tosin Aderabioyo on a free has already been announced, with it being reported that he is excited to work under the new manager.

Now, reports are swinging over to the other end of the pitch, and one player they have been mentioned as interested in is Jhon Duran.

Chelsea agree deal for Jhon Duran

Despite limited Premier League experience, he is already showing promising potential. He was described as ‘outstanding’ by Clinton Morrison last season.

Now, journalist Guillermo Arango has claimed on Twitter that the Blues have reached an agreement with Aston Villa over a fee for a transfer this summer.

He said: “Agreement between Chelsea and Aston Villa for the signing of Jhon Jáder Durán. It would arrive for a figure close to 50M€.

“They are negotiating the terms with the player to sign the contract. Follow-up to the news that I gave you last week.”

Chelsea found out this week they would not be able to get a deal over the line for Benjamin Sesko, after it was announced he would be remaining at RB Leipzig for now.

Concern over Duran impacting Nicolas Jackson

This could be why they seem to have shifted their attention to Duran, however there will no doubt be some who are a little concerned by this news.

They will be wondering if the 20-year-old will have any real part to play in the upcoming campaign, with Nicolas Jackson clearly the number one option up front.

The Senegal international had a very impressive debut campaign, and impacting his development could be a real worry if another striker is brought in.
