Recent reports have claimed that the Blues have moved forward in talks with Crystal Palace to try and get closer to doing a deal, with his release clause being in the region of £60m.
Now, the Evening Standard have claimed that they are prepared to pay that fee in order to complete the deal this summer.
The Blues are being rivalled for a deal by a number of top Premier League clubs, who were all no doubt impressed by what they saw when they saw him in action last season.
The Frenchman also had a night to remember on a personal level when he played at Stamford Bridge earlier this season. He found the net and gave Levi Colwill a tough time at the back in the process.
Where he ends up remains to be seen, but a move to West London would likely spell danger for Noni Madueke.
