Faster Than Mbappe - Chelsea could announce £35m signing of EPL 'speed demon'

Chelsea have a ‘serious’ interest in Fulham defender Antonee Robinson and could make a move to sign him this summer.

The Blues have spent a fortune on transfers since Todd Boehly bought the club, but it looks like they aren’t done yet. Chelsea are expected to have another big summer, and Robinson is said to be one of their key targets.

Chelsea spent an absolute fortune on Marc Cucurella in 2022, but it has to be said that the move has not worked out for the Blues.

The Spaniard played regularly at the start of the campaign. He was even used at right-back due to injuries, but he just couldn’t reproduce the quality he showed when he was at Brighton.

Cucurella is currently injured having undergone ankle surgery, and it looks like Chelsea are now looking for a new left-back to potentially replace him.

GiveMeSport claim this week that Fulham’s Antonee Robinson has emerged as a ‘serious’ target for the Blues as they aim to bring in a backup for Ben Chilwell.

It has further been revealed that Chelsea have been monitoring Robinson for over a year now, but Fulham aren’t too keen on letting him go. The Blues, however, value him at £35 million and could make a move to sign him in the summer.

Robinson, who was linked with Liverpool in January, signed a new contract before the start of this season and that does not expire until the summer of 2028. That puts Fulham in a strong position in potential transfer negotiations.

Ben Chilwell is the first-choice left-back at Chelsea, and that’s not going to change.

If Cucurella is sold in the summer, the Blues will need to find a new backup for Chilwell, and Antonee Robinson would not be a bad option at all.

The Fulham defender has done really well over the last few years. He knows the Premier League, has good experience under his belt and is very quick too. He was faster than Kylian Mbappe at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

As a backup, Robinson would be a good option, but whether Fulham will sell him to Chelsea this summer is anybody’s guess.
