Chelsea and Italian club to agree £115m for the signing of a world-class striker

According to Calciomercato, Romelu Lukaku is on the verge of making a move to Roma during the forthcoming summer transfer window.

The 30-year-old striker made his way to Chelsea from Inter Milan in 2021 for a fee of €115 million, only to be loaned out after a season. While on loan at Roma, Lukaku has impressed with 18 goals in 35 matches this campaign.

With a contract at Chelsea extending to 2026, Lukaku seems to be out of the picture at Stamford Bridge, which paves the way for his transfer.

Roma have the option to buy Lukaku for €44 million, yet the club is looking to lower the purchase price to about €35 million. However, Lukaku’s salary could be a stumbling block for the Italian outfit.

Roma’s potential qualification for next season’s Champions League—they are currently 5th in the league, just four points shy of the top four—could be a decisive factor in whether or not the transfer goes through.
