Pundit Chris Sutton has now shared which manager he reckons Chelsea owner Todd Boehly is mulling over right now.
He told ‘It’s all kicking off’ that he thinks the American will again be thinking about the clubs time under former boss Graham Potter.Potter was brought in to replace Thomas Tuchel, with Boehly leading the club’s interest in his services.
It is fair to say the experiment did not go to plan though, and the Englishman was sacked before his first campaign at the club even came to an end.
After a long time of looking, he was eventually replaced by Mauricio Pochettino, with plenty of excitement over what he could do with a young side.
Fast forward to February and the feeling is certainly not replicated amongst the fanbase at this side.
Sutton thinks Boehly will be thinking about Potter
Seeing their side drop into the bottom half of the table at the weekend was enough for some Chelsea fans to begin to lose patience with their manager in particular.
Talk has now begun over potential candidates to take over in the hotseat in West London.
Sutton however believes Boehly will only be looking to the past when thinking about managers other than Pochettino right now.
He said: “I suppose we are at the stage now, where the comparison [is there] with Graham Potter and Graham Potter got the sack.
“That must be crossing Todd Boehly’s mind and the criticism at Chelsea is across all areas. It’s how can things change and what can the catalyst be for change? Is it the manager? Is it he players?
“The manager is not going to sack himself, so it’s whether they are prepared to stick with Pochettino and whether he’s getting a good enough tune out of the players.”
It feels at this stage like the manager will be given the chance to take charge of the EFL Cup final that he booked his place in at the end of the month.
