Chelsea to agree seven-year deal for their next number 9 striker

Chelsea could be ready to hand one of their targets an extremely long contract with a pay rise.

Chelsea have already prepared a contract for Napoli striker Victor Osimhen, which is likely to last for seven years, according to report.

The same outlet also claims that Osimhen’s salary will go up at Chelsea and that he prefers a move there over other clubs because he wants to emulate the career path of his idol Didier Drogba.

It has been a tough season for Osimhen and Napoli, who currently sit ninth in the Serie A table.

However, last term, everything went to plan for them. The 25-year-old scored an impressive 26 goals in 32 league appearances as Napoli went on to win the title.

Victor Osimhen could sign seven-year contract at Chelsea

It has been Chelsea’s policy to hand out very long contracts to new signings since being taken over by Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital, making the above no surprise.

However, they will not be able to amortise Osimhen’s transfer fee over more than five years after both the Premier League and UEFA closed a contract loophole that the club had been exploiting.

Paris Saint-Germain could rival Chelsea for Osimhen’s signature, with Kylian Mbappe set to leave the Parc des Princes at the end of the season.

According to The Athletic, PSG have identified the Nigerian, who has been hailed as a “world-class striker” by AS Monaco’s Folarin Balogun, as a potential replacement for Mbappe.

Chelsea, though, still look to be in the driving seat for Osimhen’s signature despite the fact that they are unlikely to be in the Champions League next season.

Journalist Sacha Tavolieri has claimed that the Nigeria international has already decided to join Mauricio Pochettino’s side.

His arrival would likely see current first-choice striker Nicolas Jackson make way up front, perhaps moving out wide to accommodate Osimhen.
