"Talks In Advance Stage" Fabrizio Romano provides update on Chelsea's transfer deal for a world-class player"

Fabrizio Romano has now claimed that Chelsea have just received a bid for one of their players to leave the club this month.

He took to Twitter to state that Borussia Dortmund have now submitted their proposal to try and sign Ian Maatsen on their terms during the January transfer window.

Maatsen is one of the first team players who is likely to be surplus to requirements should a decent offer come in for him.

It does feel as if there is beginning to be an acceptance on both sides that this is likely to occur in the next few weeks. He is reportedly open to a move to the Bundesliga after recent interest.

This is despite the fact that he turned down an opportunity to leave the club during the summer window, when a bid was actually accepted for his services.

Now though, Romano has claimed that the Blues actually have a proposal on the table for him, and are considering their options at this advanced stage.

Dortmund bid for Maatsen

He said: “Understand Borussia Dortmund have sent official proposal to Chelsea for Ian Maatsen today!

“Loan bid submitted, more details to be clarified soon between the two clubs. Maatsen, keen on BVB move.

“More to follow as negotiations are now at advanced stages.”

Despite an injury crisis in the left-back position, the 21-year-old has not been able to string together a regular run of appearances.

Both Ben Chilwell and Marc Cucurella have suffered problems that have led to extended spells on the side.

He has just one Premier League start this season, and even that came in an attacking role on the right.

Instead, Mauricio Pochettino has been more keen to use Levi Colwill in that position so far during this campaign, despite the fact that he continues to look far more comfortable in a central role in the side.
