Chelsea offer star player plus £43m to sign a world-class star

Journalist Simon Phillips has stated on social media that Chelsea hold a ‘serious interest’ in Alphonso Davies, following tentative reports in Germany that Ben Chilwell could be used as part of a potential transfer.

Alphonso Davies is a player that has the ability to play in a number of positions, and has been on the radar of Chelsea for quite a few seasons, but they have never been able to get a transfer deal done.

However Davies is open to leaving Bayern Munich for the capital club in the coming transfer windows, a year before his contract expires, and Bayern are open to letting him leave the club.

It has been claimed in Germany that Bayern are now asking for just £43 million to left the versatile left-back leave the club, which has caught the attentions of many top clubs.

And the latest reports have claimed that CHELSEA are even prepared to offer Ben Chilwell as part of the deal that brings the defender to the Premier League, knowing that Thomas Tuchel is eager to keep star man Harry Kane happy with a number of English signings.

A move for Davies was also mooted by 90min, back in November. Last year, Simon Phillips wrote on his substack that Chelsea were ‘sensing an opportunity’ regarding Davies, though expected to face competition from Real Madrid.

Reporter Iomie Stanley told icfootballnews: ‘We are sure that Mauricio Pochettino will delve into that transfer kitty during the January window as he knows a few injuries to key players could make their start to the season more worse than it has been,

‘Davies is a man that they have wanted in the past, and although their interest has wavered in recent windows, if they is an opportunity to land the man for a bargain, it could be a smart move to make.

‘He has the ability to play in a number of positions and is proven at the top level – so could be a solid addition to that CHELSEA squad. Especially as Pochettino knows that he needs to add some experienced players, that have played at the highest level, to his squad.’
