Chelsea in pole position to complete the signing of a world-class striker

Mauricio Pochettino’s Chelsea are in pole position to sign Napoli forward Victor Osimhen despite interest from the Saudi Pro League.

Khvicha Kvaratskhelia agent Mamuka Jugeli told TV station 1TV that Victor Osimhen, formerly of French side LOSC Lille, would be moving to the Middle East in the summer in a shock development.

Osimhen, however, took to Instagram to vehemently deny this was a possibility and strongly criticise the comments. Despite the firm denial from the striker that the Pro League is a possibility, it is our understanding that there is interest from the Middle East.

And even though sources from the Pro League believe that the Nigerian will be heading elsewhere in the summer.

Osimhen has been linked with multiple clubs in the past but it is now Mauricio Pochettino’s Chelsea who look to be the team interested in the prolific 25-year-old striker.

It is our understanding that the West London side remains in pole position to sign the forward and held talks with the player’s camp before Osimhen signed his new contract with the Italian giants this summer.

The London side were aware of the Nigerian’s situation and the new contract but there remains interest in the forward with a move looking more likely for this summer.

There is expected to be interest from other European sides but the cost of his release clause, which is understood to be north of £100 million, means essentially that England looks to be his most likely destination.

As well as the Blues, Arsenal have been credited with an interest and sources claim that they could step up their interest in the 25-year-old in the next few months, as could Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United.

Outside of the Premier League, Luis Enrique’s Paris Saint-Germain could cause the biggest issues in Chelsea’s pursuit of the forward.

However, at this moment in time, it is Chelsea who look to be leading the race for the Nigerian forward, who fired Napoli to the Serie A title last season.

This season, the Nigerian has seven goals in 13 league games for the Italian giants and one goal in four Champions League.
