Pochettino explains why Nkunku didn't play against Sheffield United

In the buildup to the Sheffield United game, Mauricio Pochettino teased the possibility of Christopher Nkunku's debut for the club.

However, the Frenchman never made it off the bench, even though the Chelsea boss used only four out of five substitute slots.

"We didn’t want to take a risk with him and give him more time for his recovery," Pochettino told BBC when asked about why he left Nkunku out of the team.

Nevertheless, it was an important step for Nkunku who was in the matchday squad for the first time as a Chelsea player. Now, he'll be expected to actually play soon.
