Mauricio Pochettino breaks good news to Chelsea fans ahead Brighton game

Mauricio Pochettino is taking his pre match press conference today ahead of the game against Brighton this weekend, and the Chelsea boss has refused to rule out Christopher Nkunku.

Both Nkunku and Romeo Lavia were picture in team training this morning, and the coach was asked for an update on the status of both players.

Pochettino admitted that Lavia was a little behind Nkunku in terms of fitness, and said that the Frenchman was a possibility for the game this weekend, claiming he and the club just needed to assess the data to see whether Nkunku is ready to go.

We still don’t see it happening – at best he will be on the bench after such a long time out. But the fact that Pochettino isn’t ruling him out now, just 48 hours before the game, is a very promising sign.

Even if he doesn’t make it onto the pitch on Sunday, it feels like one of our two games next week is sure to see a debut from the former RB Leipzig man we’re all so excited to see. He’s scored 86 career goals in all competitions, and we need some of that shooting power in this team.
