Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital have shown their willingness to invest and complete mega-money deals. Since completing a £4billion takeover at Stamford Bridge, the likes of Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo have arrived at the club in deals worth over £100million.

Despite the huge investment, Chelsea continue to struggle on the pitch with results failing to show any progression under new manager Mauricio Pochettino. The Blues currently sit 10th in the Premier League following their recent defeat against Manchester United at Old Trafford.

Boehly has looked to sign young talents with the potential of becoming world-class players in the future at Chelsea - leading to the senior squad age significantly dropping with over two thirds of the squad now aged 21 or under. Pochettino has proven he is capable of getting the best out of a young squad during his time with Southampton and Tottenham - but there have been premature calls for him to be replaced after inconsistent results this season.

The Argentine is expected to be backed once again in the January transfer market - but Chelsea fans have been left surprised by Boehly's recent mega-money deal with the Los Angeles Dodgers. Japanese star baseballer Shohei Ohtani has signed a ten-year contract with the Dodgers - worth $700million (£557m) - believed to be the largest individual sports deal in the world.

The deal overshadows the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo’s two-year agreement to join Al Nassr - reportedly worth up to $200million (£160m) per year - as well as Masters golf champions John Rahm's reported $300million (£239m) deal to join Saudi Arabia’s LIV Golf tour. The Dodgers' ownership of - in which Boehly has a 20% share - have now made history by confirming the largest sports deal in the world.

It's unclear what this investement could mean for Chelsea moving forward. Blues fans will hope Boehly is prepared to invest in the squad once again next month with Pochettino's side in need of a clinical striker and some more experience to help lead the team towards the top four.
