Fabrizio Romano provides update on Chelsea signing £19m youngster

Fabrizio Romano has now claimed that Chelsea are about to miss out on the signing of one of the brightest youngsters in world football.

He took to Twitter to state that there was now a verbal agreement over the fee to be paid by PSG for Corinthians talent Gabriel Moscardo when the transfer window opens again.

In a period where Todd Boehly has been looking to snap up the best young talents on the market, it is perhaps surprising that they had not yet confirmed a deal to bring in Moscardo.

Less than a month ago however, reports from Brazil began to claim that they had actually agreed a fee with the Brazilian club over the deal, following a summer transfer window where they had also registered their interest.

It would not have been the first time that the Blues had agreed a fee outside of the transfer window for a player. This seems to have not come to fruition however.

Romano has now claimed that a deal has been agreed for the extremely promising talent to actually make the move to PSG.

He said: “Gabriel Moscardo to PSG, here we go! Understand verbal agreement with Corinthians has been reached for €20m fixed fee. Package also includes €2m add-ons.

“Moscardo will travel to Paris as soon as clubs sign the formal agreement. Beraldo & Moscardo to PSG, done.”

It is not the first time this season that a player who looked set for a move to Stamford Bridge has actually found themselves making a shift to Ligue 1.

It was reported that they were really close to a deal last summer to sign Manuel Ugarte, however a huge offer from their wealthy competitors eventually saw him head there.

However, his season so far has not exactly left Chelsea supporters feeling as if they have missed a trick, with him struggling in the Champions League in particular this season.
