Chelsea to pay more money for the signing of a number 9 striker

Back in the summer, Santiago Gimenez was seen as a cheap alternative to elite strikers like Victor Osimhen and Ivan Toney .

He still could be, although his price is creeping ever closer to that of the alternatives as his good form continues.

He has 20 goals in 20 games this season, and Caughtoffside are now reporting that he’s valued at more than £60m by his club PSV.

Not only is his price rising, we’re also seeing increasing competition for his signature. Tottenham and Arsenal are both said to be in the mix now. The 22 year old is going to have his pick of top clubs next summer it seems, and given Chelsea look almost certain to miss out on European football, it will be difficult to tempt him to Stamford Bridge unless we offer some quite spectacular wages – something that our owners are deliberately moving away from.

If not Gimenez, then who? We’re getting further and further down our shortlist.
