Big blow to Chelsea ahead Carabao Cup clash with Newcastle

Chelsea have been absolutely plagued with injuries to first team players over the last two seasons, and it has even got much worse this season.

It’s impossible to pinpoint exactly why this is happening, but it’s really concerning and something that the club really need to be investigating and getting on top of.

The amount of injuries they have had to key players this season has really been effecting results and has been a real achilles heal (no pun intended) for the club.

Mauricio Pochettino has had to announce injury after injury and he has announced yet another one last night.

Robert Sanchez went off injured recently and missed the last game, but it looks like he is the latest one now set to miss at least a handful of matches going forward.

As cited by The Evening Standard, Pochettino said: “It is an injury that’s going to be for a few weeks, I don’t know if two, three, four, five or six.

“We will assess day-by-day to know how to follow it. His recovery will depend on him and the reaction of his knee and it is difficult to say in two or three weeks but we hope [he is back] as soon as possible.”

Sanchez is Chelsea’s number one goalkeeper and had played every game before his injury. So this will come as yet another huge blow for Chelsea and Pochettino.
