Journalist reveals Chelsea signing new striker to replace Jackson in January

Chelsea have reportedly held ‘internal discussions’ to sign a new player who is ‘gettable’ in January.

As we know, Chelsea’s owners will certainly be looking at what business they can do in the coming winter transfer window that is now fast approaching.

The main priority position we have been hearing a lot mentioned is in attack.

Nicolas Jackson is not firing at all yet, and Armando Broja is still suffering with various injuries after returning from a long-term injury this season.

It’s certainly an area where they could do with a proven goalscorer for the hear and now, and it is something they are looking into, according to journalist Ben Jacobs this week.

He says Chelsea are one of the club who have held internal discussions regarding signing Brentford striker Ivan Toney, potentially in January.

He believes Brentford will want around £65m for the striker, but that fee could inflate with Arsenal and Tottenham also interested in the player.

“Ivan Toney is a more ‘gettable’ target in January. Chelsea, Arsenal and Spurs have all held internal discussions. Brentford would be looking for around £65m, and some sources have even estimated the number may be closer to £80m. It will all depend if there’s a bidding war. The price will be higher in January, which is very much a seller’s market. Toney is keen to move.”
