Good news from Stamford Bridge as Chelsea star player returns ahead Newcastle game

Journalist Nizaar Kinsella has claimed that Chelsea attacker Christopher Nkunku has enjoyed a great recovery.

He told the London is Blue podcast that the Frenchman’s road back from injury will see him brought back quickly, instead of being eased into action.

Nkunku is yet to be seen this season after picking up an injury in the final stages of the pre-season campaign.

His absence has been a big miss for the Blues, with it obvious Mauricio Pochettino was looking to build his attack around the 26-year-old.

With the season approaching the busy festive period, Kinsella has issued a really positive update regarding Nkunku’s recovery.

He said: “I think they can bring him back quite quickly in this particular case. He’s in great shape, done his recovery really well. I think he naturally trains brilliantly anyway and he’s got a great body for recovering from injuries.

Nkunku has recovered really well

“I think there was a little bit of talk about bringing him back for City before the international break, but I think it was only a bit of a joke. The medical staff took it out of his hands.

“What will happen now is that they’ll bring him back to the training pitch, see how he reacts to training. Really have a good look at him.

“Expect to see some training ground pics of him this week, and if he comes through that you’d see him on the bench for a few weeks, but I don’t think they’ll reintroduce him slowly.”

It has been reported that the forward is looking to use this week’s training sessions to prove his fitness ahead of the return to the Premier League against Newcastle.

However, he and Romeo Lavia are likely to see their returns come a little bit further down the line.
