Chelsea advanced to the quarter finals of The League Cup last night by beating Championship club Blackburn Rovers 2-0 at Stamford Bridge.
The draw for the next round took place after the games, and some of you if like me, would have fallen asleep as they continued to drag it out and delay the draw!Anyways, I woke up to find out that Chelsea have been drawn very tough opposition in the quarter finals against Newcastle United at Stamford Bridge.
We will host Newcastle United in the last eight of the #CarabaoCup! 🏆

Far from an ideal draw and of course I’d have much preferred to have been given Port Vale.
However, how things have been going for Chelsea so far this season, it could be a draw that goes in our favour.
This is simply because we seem to be better against the teams we are not expected to beat – the better teams.
Against the ‘lesser’ teams we often struggle to breakdown their low block defensive line and they end up countering and scoring against the odds. Whereas Newcastle will come at us a lot more and the game will be more open, which might actually end up suiting Chelsea.
Of course, I’d still take Port Vale if you gave me the option to change!! But still…
