Agreement in place as Chelsea ready to sign £100m star player

Chelsea could try to reach a pre-agreement with another club for one of their players in January.

Chelsea are interested in the likes of Napoli’s Victor Osimhen and Brentford’s Ivan Toney, but signing either in the winter transfer window may prove difficult.

Both players are extremely important to their respective sides, so they will be reluctant to let them go in the middle of the season. It means Chelsea may very well have to set something up for the summer instead of bringing in one of the two now.

Jacobs has claimed that Chelsea may try to strike a deal with Napoli for Osimhen that would see the Nigerian move to Stamford Bridge next summer.

The journalist told GiveMeSport: “Chelsea like to jump ahead of the market, and if they know that Osimhen is not available in January, they may choose to move in January with a view to a move in the summer.

“That’s one possibility if they feel it will lock them in an elite-level striker at a price that is still not through the roof. So, it’s intriguing for Chelsea.”

According to Jacobs, by the time the summer of 2024 arrives, Osimhen’s value could have dropped to £100m.

It would be great if Chelsea could bring in a new striker now, but Osimhen looks well worth the wait.

He was fantastic for Napoli last season, scoring 31 goals in all competitions for them. If Chelsea have to wait six more months or so before they can land the 24-year-old, then we think they should consider waiting.

In the short-term, it could hurt them. Nicolas Jackson has been on fire of late, netting four times in his last two outings, but will the Senegal international be enough to get Chelsea back into the Champions League?

With Mauricio Pochettino‘s men currently sitting in 10th, probably not. However, the Blues could really benefit in the long run if they patiently wait for Osimhen.

The former Lille man could come in and make the different next season and for years to come given that he is still 24.
