Palmer was forced out of the match in the 52nd minute due to injury, which Blues fans took to X to curse.
One of the Stamford Bridge faithful said: "What tha hell?"
Another said: "We are cursed."
And another said: "It’s a Chelsea thing SMH."
One remarked: "Are we cursed or something?
"Can’t our players finish a game without injuries?
Another chimed in: "Sending Cole Palmer safe wishes and hope it is nothing serious."
Blues fans are now sweating on Palmer's fitness ahead of next Saturday's visit of title-chasing Arsenal.
Palmer, 21, has hit the ground running since joining Chelsea from Manchester City in the summer, with a goal and two assists in his last three in all competitions, but is now an injury doubt.
However, Blues boss Mauricio Pochettino will have been pleased to see another Stamford Bridge starlet in Noni Madueke, 21, netting a superb second half double at the City Ground.
Madueke has made just three Premier League appearances off the bench for Chelsea this campaign due to injury issues, and was in Poch’s bad books after spotted out partying.
But the former PSV winger looks back to his best, playing his part as Lee Carsley’s Young Lions made it two wins from two in their Euros qualifying group and eighth successive wins, including lifting the Euros back in July.
They briefly went behind thanks to a screamer from Serbia’s Vladimir Lucic, but responded with three before half time thanks to Jaden Philogene, Liam Delap and Harvey Elliot.
England ran riot after the break.
