BIG DEAL: Chelsea to spend £120m for the signing of La Liga star player

Mauricio Pochettino's tutored side, Chelsea may be very tempted to make a move for Barcelona sensation Gavi.

That is according to a report from TEAMtalk.

They claim that Spanish giants Barcelona could be forced into selling some prized assets to help with financial pressure.

It is understood that Barcelona youngster Gavi, who’s still only 19, could be worth a much as £120million.

The report says that if the midfielder does become available, Chelsea and Manchester City would be ‘extremely tempted’ to try sign him. Apparently, Man City manager Pep Guardiola rates the Spain international and would have the biggest pull.

In addition, it’s worth highlighting that Gavi has no desire to leave the Camp Nou right now. We’ll see how severe the financial pressure is on Barca, though.

We’ve seen Chelsea dig deep into their pockets to spend big on some of the world’s best young players in recent times. For example, Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo both arrived at Stamford Bridge in 2023 for deals worth £100million-plus each.

So, could Gavi be the next rising star the Blues splash the cash for?

Gavi, who only turned 19 in August, has already made 108 first-team appearance for Barcelona. He’s got 25 senior caps for Spain, too!

The central midfielder, who can also play higher up the pitch in advanced positions, is incredibly mature for his age. He fits the exact profile of what Chelsea have been targeting in transfer windows since the change of ownership.

We’re finding it hard to put together a compelling case to support signing Gavi. Of course, the Barcelona ace has immense talent and potential. However, Chelsea’s next focus needs to be the striker position.

‘Spectacular’ Gavi

Described as “spectacular” by Barcelona manager Xavi Hernandez a couple of years ago (Fotmob), Gavi is now starting to receive frequent links to Stamford Bridge.

Therefore, could we soon see him in the Premier League?
