Brentford have reportedly named their asking price for Ivan Toney, and it will be music to Chelsea ears.
Toney is currently in the middle of a ban that keeps him out of football until January, but that has not stopped speculation that he is a player that CHELSEA are very much interested in signing. The Blues have spent some serious money over the last couple of transfer windows, but are lacking a striker that has the ability to score 20 goals a season, and Toney is reportedly the man that Mauricio Pochettino would like the board to sign in just a few months time.
And while Toney would provide a genuine goalscorig outlet, there has been fears that Brentford would be asking far too much money for a player that will have not played for eight months.
But according to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano via his Daily Briefing podcast, a deal can be completed for as little as £65million.
However, Chelsea will face competition from Arsenal and Tottenham, who are also said to be keeping tabs on the situation.
Transfer pundit Dean Jones recently come out and claimed that both Toney and CHELSEA are keen on the high-profile switch and that Toney’s change in agent may signal a change in employers is near.
“I mean, he clearly is looking for a move in January. For all the noise that there is around this transfer, it’s not a coincidence that he’s changed agents. He has big belief in what he’s capable of, and I think during this period out, it’s probably been reflective for him to decide where he wants to take his career.
“And, you know, Brentford, has been great for him, but he knows that he’s capable of playing somewhere bigger than that. So, I think that Chelsea clearly is a club that have interest in him and I think that he’s interested in that too. I’d say there’s probably the highest chance of it happening as we stand right now.”
Pundit Frank McAvennie recently insisted the club are still missing someone like Toney.
“I still think they could do with Toney. I think if they get him they will be a force to be reckoned with again.
