The London club, Chelsea Women are close to confirming the signing of USA forward Catarina Macario.
Chelsea are wasting no time in strengthening their squad after losing to Barcelona in the semi-finals of the Champions League this term and manager Emma Hayes is keen to keep on improving that squad.
Despite regaining that WSL title – Hayes is desperate to add that Champions League title to the cabinet and is hoping to sign players that will help her achieve her goal of becoming a European winner.
Macario has scored eight goals in 17 senior international caps for the world champions. She helped her current club Lyon win last season’s Women’s Champions League
The 23-year-old will join when her contract with Lyon expires at the end of the month.
Macario hasn’t played since June 2022 after injuring her ACL and will miss this summer’s World Cup.
Chelsea have also secured the signature of Sjoeke Nusken from Eintracht Frankfurt. The 22-year-old German defensive midfielder will move to London on 1 July for an undisclosed fee in a deal that will run until 2026
CHELSEA women have had a habit in the past of getting their transfer deals done early in the window – and it seems athat they plan on doing that once again this window.
Macario is a very gifted player that will add something to that Chelsea attack – when she is back playing fully fit
The summer window is a long one and to be honest – we are expecting Hayes to improve a number of positions in the side – especially as she wants that Champions League title next season.
