Barcelona star boy offered to Chelsea

Chelsea are among the clubs monitoring Ansu Fati’s situation at Barcelona, who could decide to sell the winger this summer, according to reports in Spain.

Fati is not happy with his lack of game time at Barcelona. His father, Bori Fati, has made it pretty clear.

“As a father, I am angry, yes, like any father. Because seeing Ansu play so little makes you a little angry. I tell them that we deserve much more,” Bori said in a recent interview with COPE.

The 20-year-old has mostly played as a substitute under Xavi Hernandez, having only nine starts in La Liga this season.

This should have been nothing usual for a such young player, but on the other hand, the likes of Gavi, Pedri, and Alejandro Balde, who are around his age, are already regular starters.

According to Sport, while the winger is still keen on staying at Barcelona, his lack of playing minutes could lead to a summer exit.

His agent, Jorge Mendes, has reportedly sounded several Premier League clubs over his client’s possible availability this summer.

Four English clubs; Chelsea, Arsenal, Manchester United, and Newcastle United, are said to be keeping an eye on the situation.

Chelsea, in particular, already have plenty of left winger options at their disposal, including Raheem Sterling and Mykhailo Mudryk who arrived at the club in the summer and in January, respectively.

Therefore, while the prospect of signing a top young talent is attractive, it seems unlikely that they would want to invest in another player in this position or be able to guarantee more game time than what he gets at Barcelona.

In addition to that, Fati is under a long-term contract with Barcelona which ties him to the club until 2027 with the club having the option of a two-year extension.
