Raheem Sterling has been forced to leave the England World Cup camp and return home after his house was broken into on Saturday night.
The Chelsea winger was left out of the squad to face Senegal on Sunday because of a ‘family matter’. It has now been revealed that his home in Surrey was broken into by armed intruders on Saturday night.
His family was in the house at the time and due to concerns over their safety, he chose to fly back home.
It is believed that he wants to return to Qatar but only if circumstances are right.
Sterling is the second England player forced to fly home due to unexpected circumstances. Arsenal full-back, Ben White, left the squad and flew for ‘personal reasons’, earlier this week.
