Hakim Ziyech certainly attracted the love and admiration from his Chelsea teammates after influencing Morocco’s magical World Cup moment.

Reece James and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang were amongst the joyous Stamford Bridge group who responded to their teammate’s celebratory Instagram post yesterday.

Ziyech had every right to share his pleasure with the social media society, having just spearheaded his nation’s progression from the group stage to the knockout-phase.

The 29-year-old’s delicious lob over the Canada goalkeeper on Thursday after just four minutes sent Morocco on their way to significant 2-1 victory.

Youssef En-Nesyri doubled his country’s advantage, only for it to be pegged back just before half-time by a Nayef Aguerd own goal.

But the Atlas Lions managed to hold on to their lead and head into the elimination rounds for the first time since 1986.

None of the current squad were alive when their ancestors achieved this historic feat.

Now, it is up to the new generation to fly the flag in the face of some of the world’s top stars.

At the very heart of their overachieving ambition is a man who is no stranger to competing with the very elite.

Since propelling to fame at Ajax, Ziyech has played in numerous Champions League and Europa League ties.

He then got the chance to pit his wit against Premier League opponents when Chelsea signed him in 2020.

It’s certainly not been glitz and glam for the attacker since stepping foot in South West London, however.

In fact, it’s been so far the opposite, there continues to be strong murmurs that the Moroccan may well leave the Blues in January.

Although, after such a strong showing at the World Cup so far, Todd Boehly might just reconsider putting Ziyech on the market.
