Chelsea FC has suffered their first defeat of the season as they got thrashed by Leeds United at Elland Road this afternoon. However, here are the four players to blame for the defeat:

1. Edouard Mendy

Chelsea’s number one goalkeeper made a horrible mistake in the 33rd minute when he failed to clear the ball and lost it to Aaronson who turn slot it home to give Leeds United the lead. His actions will be subject to a query from the Head Coach, Thomas Tuchel.

Mendy sold the game when he made that error as the first goal gave Leeds United the confidence to score the second before halftime. Harrison added the third in the second half to seal Leeds United’s 3-0 victory.

2. Reece James

The talented right-back has been solid for Chelsea before he failed to deal with the free-kick that lead to Rodrigo’s goal. James contested with Rodrigo and should have done better to stop the forward from scoring.

3. Kai Havertz

The German didn’t offer anything special up front today. He didn’t keep the ball or make quality runs as he didn’t offer any positives from his game today. Chelsea needs to sign a proper forward before the window closes or they suffer more this season.

4. Kalidou Koulibaly

The Senegal International had his first worst performance in Chelsea’s shirt today as he was unable to stop any of Leeds United’s goals. He was sent off in the second half following a second yellow card.

Nevertheless, Chelsea will now turn their attention to Leicester City and try to beat them to get back on track next weekend.
