“Bench him against Liverpool”, Tuchel told about Chelsea after a poor performance against Lille

Chelsea secured a comfortable win in their Champions League clash against Lille at Stamford Bridge earlier this evening.

Thomas Tuchel would be really pleased with the performance of his players throughout the course of the game.

Kai Havertz led the pack for Chelsea as Romelu Lukaku was dropped to the bench by Thomas Tuchel.

It took the German attacker just eight minutes to give Chelsea the lead in the crucial contest. Kai Havertz found the back of the net with a powerful header from close range after receiving a delightful cross from Hakim Ziyech.

Chelsea doubled their lead in the 63rd minute through Christian Pulisic. The American talent managed to find the bottom corner after a brilliant counter-attacking play from Ngolo Kante in the middle of the park.

Chelsea have a great advantage ahead of their second leg clash against Lille in France. However, Thomas Tuchel needs to reshuffle his team before the second leg fixture.

Chelsea will take on Liverpool in the Carabao Cup final on Sunday evening and that might be a good opportunity for Thomas Tuchel to make some tactical switches.

It wouldn’t be surprising if the German manager drops Alonso to the bench following his average performance against Lille.

The Spanish left-back wasn’t at his best before he was replaced by Malang Sarr in the closing stages of the game.

Alonso had just one interception, one clearance, lost four duels, conceded three dribbles, and completed just 72% of his total passes.
