Bad news for Chelsea fans as four players set to miss Aston Villa match
Thomas Tuchel will be looking to rest some of his players after a very busy international break as Chelsea getting ready to host Aston Villa at Stamford Bridge.
1. Ngolo Kante. The Frenchman was unavailable for selection for France last week after picking up an injury in training with the Les Blues. Kante went off injured in Chelsea’s last game against Liverpool and then the following day, made the trip to France to join up with the France national team. The 30 year old then spent two days in the France national team Camp before being sent back to Cobham for treatment. Kante’s injury problems seems to be back and it’s highly unlikely that he would recover in time for the game against Aston Villa this Saturday. A big blow for Chelsea.
2. Romelu Lukaku.Lukaku was in red hot form for Belgium in their last 2 World cup qualifiers against Estonia and Czech Republic. The 28 year old bagged 2 goals and 1 assists for Roberto Martinez’s men as they picked up 6 points from a possible 6. After the game, Lukaku himself said that he would go back to Cobhma to check on the discomfort he is having on his thigh. If the scan reveals that the injury is a serious one, then Lukaku might just miss the game against Aston Villa. At the moment, we would have to wait until Friday to hear from Chelsea head coach Thomas Tuchel.
3. Kai Havertz.Kai Havertz missed Germany’s last World cup qualifiers game against Armenia. The 22 year old was reported to have flu like symptoms and was made to sit out the 6-0 win for Germany. The ex Bayer Leverkusen star will continue to be watched ahead of Chelsea’s game against Aston Villa. Kai Havertz had contacted Covid19 last season and he missed more than 3 weeks of football for Chelsea during that period. Hopefully, it will not be the case this timearound.
4. Reece James. This is confirmed now, Reece James would miss Chelsea’s game against Aston Villa after picking up a red card against Liverpool 2 weeks ago. The Chelsea fullback was sent off for a handball in the penalty area against the Reds and will therefore miss the next game. After that, he could be available for selection once again to Thomas Tuchel.
