Chelsea vs Aston Villa: Huge blow for the Blues ahead of the clash

Chelsea has had a fantastic start to the current Premier League season, with seven points to show for it after three games.

Although they lost two points to Liverpool at Anfield, it felt more like a point gained as Thomas Tuchel’s 10-men put in a resolute, well-shaped shielding performance to keep Jurgen Klopp’s side at bay.

After the international break, the Blues will look to return to winning ways against Aston Villa on September 11 at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea has a squad that is more than capable of picking up three points against Villa, but they have been dealt a big blow as two first team players are set to miss the game. The addition of Saul Niguez on deadline day however is a big boost for them going into Gameweek 4. Here are the players who Chelsea are set to miss for the game against Aston Villa.

During their EPL match against Liverpool, he was seen limping off the field in the first half. Although he completed the half, he was still substituted at half-time.He didn’t play for France in their World Cup Qualifiers and that could mean he will miss Chelsea’s next game and he could be replaced by new signing, Saul Niguez.

Reece JamesReece James is also another Chelsea player who will miss their trip to Villa Park next weekend.

Reece James was shown a straight red card in Chelsea’s game against Liverpool after he was seen handling the ball which prevented a clear goal-scoring opportunity. In the Premier League, If a player is given a straight red card, it means that the player will miss two league matches. For that reason, Reece James is unavailable for Chelsea’s next match against a strong Aston Villa team.

These players may not be missed in that game because of Chelsea’s squad depth. Chalobah could come in to complete Chelsea’s back three while Azpilicueta could be played at the right-wing-back position.

Chelsea will look to keep their unbeaten run to the season going when they face Aston Villa next Saturday. The Blues currently seat in 4th position, two points behind League leaders Tottenham and they will be looking to take all three points at Villa Park.
