BREAKING: Chelsea and Man United stars nominated for awards
Chelsea defender Marcos Alonso alongside Manchester United forward Mason Greenwood have both been nominated for the Player of the Month Award for August, in recognition of their brilliant displays.MARCOS ALONSO: The Spanish wing-back scored Chelsea’s first goal of the 2021/2022 Premier League season with a beautiful free-kick, as they thumped Crystal Palace 3-0.
He also played a key role as the Blues secured a 2-0 victory over Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium and a 1-1 draw away to Liverpool at Anfield.
MASON GREENWOOD: The 19-year-old Englishman became only the second teenager to start a Premier League season with goals in three successive matches.
He opened his account for the campaign with a goal against Leeds United on Matchday One, as United ran out 5-1 winners.
He also found the back of the net at St. Mary’s Stadium, as the Red Devils drew away at Southampton, while scoring the only goal as Manchester United picked up a vital away victory against Wolverhampton Wanderers at the Molineux.
Both players are up against the likes of Demarai Gray who has made an instant impact for Everton, netting in a 2-2 draw at Leeds United before scoring in a 2-0 win at Brighton & Hove Albion, Algerian playmaker Said Benrahma who has scored a goal and provided an assist in each of his first two matches as West Ham United beat
Newcastle United and Leicester before drawing with Crystal Palace, Eric Dier of Tottenham Hotspurs – whose solid defensive displays has seen the North London outfit occupy top spot in the league without conceding a goal and Michail Antonio who has scored four goals for West Ham, as he became the club’s all-time top goalscorer in the Premier League with 50 goals.
A total of six players have been shortlisted for the Player of the Month Award for August.
