The 2021/22 English Premier League season kicked off this weekend with lots of entertaining results and goals for fans to enjoy.There were comfortable victories for Manchester United, Chelsea and Liverpool, while Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City fell to defeat at the hands of Tottenham Hotspur.

Here is a look at how the EPL table stands after matchweek one.There were also some standout performances from the opening weekend of the new Premier League season and were are going to make an XI out of those players.

Gk: Kasper Schmeichel (Leicester City)

The Danish shot stopper was on hand to keep a clean sheet in his side’s narrow win over Wolves. He made some excellent saves to deny the opponents and help the Foxes run out with all three points on the day.

Defenders: Trevoh Chalobah (Chelsea)

Not only did he keep a clean sheet on his Premier League debut, the youngster was also one of the goalscorers in Chelsea’s 3-0 drubbing of Crystal Palace.

Ethan Pinnock (Brentford FC)

Newly promoted side – Brentford FC were one of the winners of matchweek one and Pinnock was one of the major factors in that result. The Jamaican center back was rock solid at the back to help his team keep a clean as they defeated Arsenal by two goals to nil.

Japhet Tanganga (Tottenham Hotspur)

He was unbeatable on the right flank for Spurs, pocketing both Raheem Sterling and the £100M Jack Grealish throughout his time on the pitch.

Marcos Alonso (Chelsea)

The Spaniard helped his team keep a clean sheet and also contributed with the opening goal from a wonderful free kick.

Midfielders: Christian Norgaard (Brentford FC)

Scored against Arsenal and contributed his quota in midfield for Brentford FC.

Paul Pogba & Bruno Fernandes (Manchester United)

Both players ran the show for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side as United demolished Leeds United in front of their Old Trafford fans. Bruno Fernandes grabbed a hat trick while Pogba assisted four out of the team’s five goals on the day.

Attackers: Mohammed Salah (Liverpool)

The Egyptian winger was the main man for Liverpool as they humbled returning Norwich City away from home. He was involved in all his team’s goals, scoring one and assisting the other two.

Son (Tottenham Hotspur)

Stepped up in the absence of Harry Kane to win the game against Man City in front of a fully packed Spurs stadium. His strike in the second half proved to be the only goal of the game as they claimed all three points against Pep Guardiola’s side.

Emmanuel Dennis (Watford)The Super Eagles forward was the star man for the Hornets as they marked their Premier League return with a home win over Aston Villa. Dennis opened the scoring for them before providing an assist to give Watford a two goal lead in the first half.
