Arsenal have announced the jersey number for £18m new signing Albert Sambi Lokonga after signing on a long-term contract from Anderlecht.
The 21-year-old Congolese descent made 78 appearances for the Belgian side after coming through their academy, where he played under former Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany.
Lokonga has finally completed his move to North London where he will vie with the likes of Mo Elneny, Thomas Partey and Joe Willock for a role for the upcoming campaign, with him being given the number 23 shirt after his unveiling via the club website and social media.
Lokonga becomes Arsenal’s second signing of the summer transfer window after Portuguese defender Nuno Tavares, who joined the Gunners from Benfica in a deal worth around £8m.
The Belgium U21 midfielder is now set to join his new Arsenal teammates after completing isolation rules, and is set to jet out to Florida on Wednesday for the club’s preparations for the new season.
