Monday 7pm done deal, date of medical fixed, Chelsea to welcome midfilder to join Tuchel at Stamford Bridge

The London giants have made the initial attempt to land Orkun Kokcu from Feyenoord in the summer transfer window. Chelsea have involved club legend Didier Drogba in the meetings with Turkey international’s family.

Kokcu is widely regarded as one of the most promising young midfielders in Europe at present, having grown exponentially since breaking into the Feyenoord first-team setup in 2018. Now a mainstay in midfield for the Dutch club, Orkun is coming off a somewhat frustrating 2020/21 season.

While the 20-year-old midfielder only missed three games when fit and available, a long-term ankle injury sidelined him for several weeks, meaning he just played 31 games across all tournaments.

The Turkish midfielder, though, seems to have done enough to attract some of the biggest clubs in the world, with the Blues, in particular, showing a lot of interest heading into the summer transfer window.

The PL heavyweights are touted to be in the market for a midfielder this summer, which is somewhat surprising as the rumours linked Jorginho with a potential exit have dissipated. However, with Billy Gilmour likely to be loaned out, Newcastle United are interested in a move, Blues could do with a midfield addition.

That is because the likes of Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Ross Barkley and Ethan Ampadu might not be a part of Thomas Tuchel’s plans for the 2021/22 campaign. The German coach will then be left with Mateo Kovacic, N’Golo Kante and Jorginho as the central midfield options, which is perhaps why there have been heavy links with Declan Rice.

However, with a tournament for Declan Rice being quite stiff, Blues ought to identify alternatives, which is where Orkun Kokcu comes in even though he is not a like-for-like alternative.

Man United complete a transfer deal

This summer’s transfer window is gradually taking the shape of a busy one despite the ongoing European Championship competition. Manchester united have actually completed the signing of Aston Villa goalkeeper, Tom Heaton. It’s quite very obvious that both Henderson and David De Gea see themselves as the club’s first choice goalkeepers, so Ole Gunnar Solskjaer have been forced to make a decision before selling the player who won’t start regularly.

The goalkeeper’s contract is set to expire in July and as such, the goalkeeper will be joining the red devils on a free transfer this summer. The goalkeeper’s medicals have been scheduled to hold this week.Meanwhile, Manchester united have continued to press further for an agreement to be reached with Dortmund over the possible signing of Jadon Sancho. The red devils have made Sancho their top priority and it is pertinent that an agreement is reached before the closure of this transfer window.
