Chelsea receive green light to seal €90m deal for a world-class player
Chelsea have received green light to land in one of their number one targets which could be completed during the summer transfer window.
Jan Oblak is eager to part ways with Atletico Madrid in the summer transfer window. The 28-year-old shot-stopper, who has a €120m release clause in his deal with La Liga club, is the subject of interest from Chelsea and Man United. Jan has transformed into one of the best shot-stoppers in the world since joining Atletico in the summer of 2014.
A colossal figure between the sticks, Oblak has a phenomenal record for the Colchoneros, having kept 154 clean sheets while conceding just 205 goals in 292 games.
However, Slovenia international’s frustrations at the Wanda Metropolitano have boiled over due to the inability of the Los Rojiblancos to stay competitive in the UCL. That is why the Slovenian goalkeeper is now ready to seek a new adventure, which has provided a boost to Chelsea and Man United.
Blues have signed a shot-stopper in two of the last three summer transfer windows, but are have still not been able to find stability in their goalkeeping department. While Kepa is set to be offloaded in the coming window, Edouard Mendy has blown hot and cold at times, although he has been largely solid since the arrival of the German manager.
Nevertheless, it looks like the Blues are ready to enter the market for a goalkeeper this summer, with Gianluigi Donnarumma also linked with them. Man United, on the other hand, are in the same boat as their PL rivals, with David de Gea reportedly facing an uncertain future at Theatre of Dreams.
If the Spanish goalkeeper ends up being offloaded, Man United will need to bolster their goalkeeping department, even if Dean Henderson is promoted to the no. 1 role full time.
